This year, more than 1,700 finalists competed at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2015 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Finalists qualify for Intel ISEF by participating regional, state, or national fairs associated with Society for Science & the Public.
In addition to the Grand Awards, which were announced on Friday, May 15, more than 60 Special Awards organizations also provide awards. Special Award organizations provide educational scholarships, cash awards, summer internships, scientific field trips, equipment grants, and more. Special Awards were announced on Thursday, May 14.
North Carolina had a total of 21 students presenting 16 projects from three regional fairs, NCSEF Region 3A (one project), Region 3B (one project), and Region 6 (two projects); and the state fair, NC Science and Engineering Fair (twelve projects).
