2019 North Carolina Science and Engineering Fair Schedule

Project check in at the Talley Student Union (TSU) Lobby (2nd Floor)

Elementary Set-up at TSU Rooms Coastal Ballroom (3rd Floor)
Junior and Senior Set-up at TSU Piedmont/Mountains Ballroom (3rd Floor)
  1. Unload project at the back of TSU off Dunn Avenue, then park vehicle in the designated parking area.
  2. Check-in at desk located in the TSU Lobby
  3. Verify location of your project and set up exhibits
  4. The Display and Safety Committee must approve your project before you leave your project. Display the approved green D&S check-off sheet.

Elementary Students: at projects in Coastal Ballroom TSU (3rd floor) for Judges’ Interviews. Students should bring reading or quiet activity to occupy their time. ONLY students, Fair Personnel, and Judges will be allowed in the rooms and adjacent halls during judging. Students must stay in the rooms with the room monitors until the end of the judging period. Parents, teachers and others may wait in TSU 2nd Floor common areas. (There are many places to sit and eat on the second floor)

Junior and Senior Students
are free for lunch – Those with Lunch Tickets should go to One Earth (TSU 2nd Floor) for lunch. If you did not purchase a lunch ticket, various choices for food located on the 2nd floor of TSU, there is also a Starbucks located on the 1st floor and can be accessed via the stairs in the bookstore. There is also a small Marketplace that sells sandwiches, snack’s, drinks and THE place to get your Howling Cow ice cream. You are also welcome to eat at Clark Dining Hall located a short walk down Cates Ave.

Elementary Projects Open to the Public- Students should be at their projects from 1-2pm. Students should divide their time between standing at their project and visiting other projects. Projects should remain until 3:30pm, when they can be dismantled.

Junior and Senior Projects Open to the Public- - Students should be at their projects from 2-3pm. Students should divide their time between standing at their project and visiting other projects. Projects should remain until 3:30pm and no later than 5pm, when they can be dismantled.

NOTES:                       
  • Finalists Must Attend the Award Ceremony to Receive Their Awards! The only awards that will be shipped are for team projects when an additional trophy is needed.
  • Students may begin setting up as early as 3:30pm Friday at TSU. All projects should be in place and approved by the Display and Safety Committee by 9:00am Saturday for judging. Please allow time for the project to be inspected and approved.
  • Follow signs for locations to unload projects and parking. Please park only in designated area. The Fair is not responsible to parking tickets given to those parking in undesignated areas.
  • Closed judging will begin at 9:15am - students, parents and teachers MUST leave the TSU Ballrooms and adjacent hallways.
  • During closed judging students, parents and teachers may wait in TSU 2nd or 4th Floor common areas. (There are many places to sit and eat on the second floor or at Clark Dining Hall)
  • Students may tour NC State University or visit Raleigh, but must be back in time for Student Interviews as scheduled on Saturday. For convenience, pre-purchase meal tickets for lunch at OneEarth located in TSU. Other lunch options will be available for on-site purchase at TSU and Clark Dining Hall.
  • Students will stay with their projects during judge interviews. Students should bring reading or quiet activity to occupy their time. ONLY students, Fair Personnel, and Judges will be allowed in the rooms and adjacent halls during judging. Students must stay in the rooms with the room monitors until the end of the judging period.
