Prior to the Day of the NCSEF
Scientists, engineers, and STEM educators are needed to oversee and support other volunteers who serve as Display and Safety Reviewers as students set up their research for approval. This Committee will meet in advance of the NCSEF to be trained on the required Display and Safety Rules of the International Science and Engineering Fair. Need one person per room on Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning. Can work in hourly or multiple hour shifts.
Display and Safety Reviewers (D&S Reviewers) 2 Hour Slots: Friday 3:30 - 5:30 pm, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm and Saturday from 7:15 am - 9:15 am)
This team of volunteers will use a one-page checklist to review students' project set-up for compliance with all rules and regulations. Prior training is provided through a 30 minute recorded webinar in advance of the competition.
Awards Ceremony Set Up (Saturday Morning 10 am - 12 noon) Assist Ceremony Co-chairs with set up of the Awards Ceremonies.
Awards Preparation (Saturday Morning 12 pm - 3 pm) Under the guidance of this Committee Co-chairs, individuals are needed to enter the student names into the computer system, print certificates, and organize certificates for each Awards Ceremony.
General Volunteer (2 Hour Slots: Friday 3pm - 7 pm and Saturday between 7am - 6pm) This is among the most needed volunteer on the days of the NCSEF. You will check in at the Volunteer Registration Desk and will be assigned a role that is needed to make the fair work. Such responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
Room set up on Friday afternoon
Room Monitor on Saturday to be sure the students research projects are monitored
Hall Monitor on Saturday to be sure when the judging is in progress, the halls are kept completely secure of parent and general traffic
Exhibit Area support on Saturday
Clean-up to restore classrooms and facility back to original set-up for Meredith faculty and students. Saturday afternoon.
Photographers (Saturday: (2 Hour Slots: Saturday between 9 am - 1 pm) Using a NCSEF provided iPad, take photographs of students registering, setting up projects, standing at their projects, and during their interviews with judges. Photos will be used to display a slide show at each Award Ceremony.
Registration Assistants (2 Hour Slots: Friday 3 pm -7 pm and Saturday 7 am to 10 am) Will help check in students, sell t-shirts, and provide fair information to participants.
